Something strange is stirring after dark at the Blanton Museum of Art! Step into the whimsical world of Haas Brothers: Uncanny Valley for a monster ball featuring live psychedelic music by Golden Dawn Arkestra, presented by Resound, a pop-up monster print exhibition, gallery scavenger hunts and hands-on art activities. Show off your wonderfully weird look in the costume contest for a chance to win monstrous prizes. Costumes are encouraged, and bites and beverages will be available for purchase. Grab your tickets by Oct. 18 to take advantage of early bird pricing.

Who's playing

Golden Dawn Arkestra are a psychedelic collective, presented here by Resound. A DJ set comes first, then the band's live performance. They are known for a big, costumed, dance-ready stage show. That suits a night when the museum's own monsters are the theme.

What to expect

B Scene is the Blanton's art party, held three times a year, with music, food, drinks and late-night gallery access. This edition has a one-night "Monster Mash" pop-up print show drawn from the museum's own collection. There is also a Crazy Creatures scavenger hunt, monster origami, Surrealist exquisite corpse drawing, and bead and clay creature-making. Food and drink are for sale, and a costume contest awards prizes.

You get the galleries after dark, with a live band and the Haas Brothers' strange creatures all around. The hands-on tables and scavenger hunt give you something to do besides look. Dressing up is part of the fun, and plenty of guests do.
