Craig Robinson is the actor and comedian best known as Darryl Philbin on The Office. He plays Cap City Comedy Club at The Domain in Austin. Robinson works as a stand-up, and he also performs full sets with his band, The Nasty Delicious. Cap City is a dedicated comedy room built for close-up shows.
Who's playing
Robinson began in stand-up and first got attention at the 1998 Just For Laughs festival in Montreal. He taught elementary and middle school in Chicago and studied at Second City before going full-time in comedy. Beyond The Office, he has appeared in Knocked Up, This Is the End and the Hot Tub Time Machine films. He also starred in Peacock's Killing It and hosted The Masked Dancer.
What to expect
Robinson does solo sets and also performs with The Nasty Delicious, so music can be part of his act. Cap City says its shows usually run about an hour and forty minutes. The club describes a lineup of an opener, a feature and a headliner, with the audience no more than 60 feet from the stage. Food and drinks are served in the showroom.
Why go
A TV and film name like Robinson in a room of about 300 is a rare chance to see him up close. Cap City has presented stand-up in Austin since the Laff Stop days on Research Boulevard in 1986. That history is a good reason to see a touring headliner here.
