Fieldwork Projects: Constructed Realities: A Slice of Time-Art Through Student Visions
Thursday, October 29 at Visual Arts Center, Art Building (ART), Austin

About this event
Constructed Realities brings together a vast, non-linear archive from the Digital Time-Art (DTA) curriculum and the broader Transmedia field, representing a slice of more than three decades of Art Department history. The exhibition divides this moving-image work into two distinct spatial experiences, trading strict categories for an energetic mix and coexistence of different visions.
What to expect
The show is a non-linear archive of student moving-image work, split into two spatial experiences. It mixes pieces together instead of grouping them by category, so the feel is energetic and varied. Fieldwork Projects are collaborations between faculty and students in the Department of Art and Art History. They bring classroom ideas and processes into public view.
Why go
This is a look at how time-based art has been taught and made at UT over three decades, seen through student work. The Visual Arts Center is a 13,000 square-foot gallery in the Art Building, with concrete barrel-vaulted ceilings that are a signature of the space. It is a good stop for anyone curious about video, sound and installation made on campus in Austin.
