What to expect
This is a full day of making art in a working studio, themed around Frida Kahlo. The Art Garage's camps usually include two or three projects a day. Materials across its camps include canvas painting, clay, glass fusion, collage and mosaics. Campers bring their own lunch, snack and water. They should wear clothes that can get messy, since some materials stain. The studio's air conditioning runs cold, so a sweater helps.
Why go
The Art Garage was started by a certified art teacher, and its camp staff are working artists and educators. Camps are planned from real lesson plans and are screen-free. A one-day camp suits a child who wants to try the studio, or a school-break day that needs filling. The Brentwood studio sits on North Lamar between Crestview and Hyde Park, a short drive from Mueller and downtown.
