About this event

Resound Presents: Frog at 29th St. Ballroom on 10/29 Doors/Show: 7:00pm/8:00pm All Ages https://www.etix.com/ticket/p/34911321/frog-austin-resound-presents

Who's playing

Frog started in Queens in 2012 around Daniel Bateman and Thomas White. They are often described as a guitar band built around two or three people. Their 2015 album Kind of Blah, with "Judy Garland" and "Photograph," brought them a UK tour, which was filmed as the 2018 documentary Kings of Blah. Later records include Count Bateman, and Daniel's brother Steve now plays drums.

What to expect

A standing indie rock show at a mid-sized room, with an early evening start. 29th Street Ballroom took over the old Spider House Ballroom space, and a group of Austin bar and venue operators now runs it. A food-truck lot is shared with Tweedy's next door, so dinner before the show is easy. The room is small enough that you can stand close to the band.

Why go

Frog has a loyal following and a catalog that goes back more than a decade, but it doesn't often play rooms this size in Austin. The ballroom suits a band like this, with a bar, a patio and a stage you can see from anywhere. It is a good pick for fans of literate, loose-limbed guitar songs.
The listed time is when doors open.
