About this event
“Outlet Within” showcases the work of Dougherty Arts Center’s 2026 Resident Artists Victoria Zhuk, Stefania Garcia, Minnie Rogers, Gargi Sharma, and Nathan Anthony. Victoria Zhuk’s intuitively hand built vessels house a place where the artist’s anxiety transforms into a garden of curiosity. Stefania Garcia’s playful sculptures of insects, both real and imagined, ask the viewer to consider the beauty in the smallest creatures. Minnie Rogers navigates a quasi-medical narrative, transforming everyday items found in hospitals such as pain scales and medical gloves into whimsical sculptural forms and motifs. Nathan Anthony uses the inherently haptic nature of making sculptures to explore the relationship between handmade and mechanized production. In her final exhibit at the DAC, veteran Resident Gargi Sharma collects and reconstructs memories into familiar forms, narrating stories hidden beneath everyday objects and surfaces.
Who's playing
Five residents from the center's ceramic residency each bring their own subject. Victoria Zhuk builds vessels by hand that hold a garden of curiosity. Stefania Garcia makes playful insects, real and imagined. Minnie Rogers turns pain scales and medical gloves into whimsical forms. Nathan Anthony looks at handmade versus mechanized production. Gargi Sharma, a veteran resident, shows her final exhibit at the DAC.
What to expect
A walk-through gallery show of sculpture, with five distinct bodies of work in one place. The Julia C. Butridge Gallery is a free public exhibition space inside the Dougherty Arts Center, with a large entrance gallery and shorter hallway galleries. The DAC is Austin's oldest community arts venue, open since 1978, on Barton Springs Road. The residency is a work-exchange program that gives ceramic artists studio space and time.
Why go
These are working artists from the center's own studios, so the show is a look at what has come out of the residency this year. The subjects range from anxiety and memory to hospital supplies and tiny creatures. It is also a chance to see Gargi Sharma's last exhibit as a resident.
