The Peached Tortilla in Cedar Park is excited to be hosting a Mahjong game night in collaboration with So Bam Fun on October 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a total beginner, Stop by and play American Mahjong in a fun, social setting accompanied with The Peached Tortilla’s selection of southern asian-fushion bites and bar. Beginners can learn to play with a lesson from the So Bam Fun team, while more experienced players can drop in for open play and connect with other mahjong enthusiasts. Tickets for both lessons and open play are available and range from $45 for open play and $80 for beginner lessons, and all include a glass of wine and small bites. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are available for purchase here.
Who's playing
So Bam Fun is a mahjong group that runs social events at venues around Austin. Its instructors stay on hand to keep games moving and answer questions. Tiles are provided, so nobody has to bring a set. Beginners can take the lesson, and experienced players can drop into open play.
What to expect
Two tracks run side by side. The beginner lesson teaches American Mahjong from the start, and open play is for people who already know the game. Come solo or with friends, since the aim is a social night with other mahjong fans. Each ticket includes a glass of wine and small bites from the Peached Tortilla kitchen.
Why go
The Peached Tortilla grew from an Austin food truck into a restaurant known for Asian comfort food with a Southern twist. The Cedar Park location on East Whitestone Boulevard has a large bar, booth seating and a covered patio. It is a relaxed place to learn a new game or play a familiar one over a drink.
