Halloween Movie Nights: Frankenweenie / Young Frankenstein

This is the last night of a Thursday series of Halloween movies, themed around Frankenstein's monster. Tim Burton's stop-motion Frankenweenie runs about an hour and a half. Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein follows at just under two hours. The concession stand serves popcorn and treats, and the brewery's own beer is on hand. Seating near the screen fills first, so arriving early helps. A mini pumpkin painting craft has also been listed for the early part of the evening.

The two films are very different takes on the same story. One is gothic and sweet, and the other is a classic farce. Meanwhile is a 15-barrel brewery and taproom with a shaded outdoor space, picnic tables, a soccer field and an outdoor stage. Food trucks are on site, and dogs on leashes and kids are welcome. It makes for a relaxed way to spend a fall evening in South Austin.
