Who's playing
DJ CRG hosts Late Check Out, a Thursday party at Volstead Lounge. The sets draw on classics, party anthems and crowd favorites. For Halloween, the mix adds what the host calls haunted hits, so expect some spooky-season picks alongside the usual singalongs.
What to expect
A dance night in a cozy, vintage-feeling cocktail lounge with an East Austin dive-bar streak. Costumes are encouraged, and the music is built for singing along and staying on the floor. Volstead pours classic and seasonal cocktails and a rotating draft list, and it has a large outdoor patio.
Why go
Volstead is a neighborhood bar on the East Sixth Street strip, next to its sister bar Hotel Vegas. That makes it easy to start a Halloween night out here and keep going on foot. It is a low-key, dress-up-optional way to spend the holiday week dancing.
