Radio Coffee & Beer All Ages
About this event
Madeleine Leigh and Morgan McHugh share a folk and singer-songwriter bill at Radio Coffee & Beer's South location on Menchaca Road in Austin. Leigh is a former Austin bandmate turned solo songwriter, and McHugh is a Pacific Northwest indie-folk artist on tour. It is a quiet, song-focused night at a neighborhood coffee shop and bar.
Who's playing
Madeleine Leigh is the solo name of Madeleine Froncek, an upright bassist and multi-instrumentalist. She spent about a decade in Austin with the bands Ley Line and Steel Betty. Her debut album, as it is, was released in November 2024. It is a set of songs about grief and change after her mother's death. Morgan McHugh is a Bellingham, Washington native who went solo in 2023. His 2025 EP, This Crooked House, draws on folk and classic rock, with Springsteen, Jackson Browne and John Prine as touchstones.
What to expect
Expect two acoustic-leaning sets built around lyrics and storytelling. Leigh's songs are gentle and reflective, with bluegrass and classical roots in the playing. McHugh writes plainspoken, heartfelt songs, many of them shaped by time hiking and fly fishing. Radio South is a coffee shop, bar and music venue with an outdoor patio and food trucks. The room suits a low-key show.
Why go
Radio South has been a South Austin fixture since 2014, and its shows feel casual and close. This bill pairs a songwriter with deep roots in the Austin folk scene and a touring artist who is still building his audience. It suits anyone who likes to hear new songs with a beer or a coffee in hand.
