DJ Coquito spins the rooftop salsa set, joined by live percussionists. Sam and Gerard teach the salsa class that opens the night. The event is organized by Salsa & Sazón, and Texarican512 handles the Puerto Rican food. Downstairs, the reggaeton room is billed as classic old-school perreo.
What to expect
The night starts with a salsa class on the rooftop, then moves into open social dancing under the sky with drums driving the floor. Later the ground-floor nightclub turns to reggaeton viejo, the golden-era perreo the organizers compare to a night in La Placita de Santurere. Guests can move between rooms as they like. Coconut Club is a multi-level tropical dance bar known for frozen drinks and skyline views from its roof.

Live percussion on a salsa floor is rare in Downtown Austin, and the class up front makes it easy to join in without experience. Coconut Club sits near the rainbow crosswalks at Fourth and Colorado, so the room is already used to dance-first crowds. Two rooms and a food vendor mean a group can dance, eat and switch genres without leaving the building.
