About this event
Pumpkin Nights is where Halloween becomes art. We set out to create a different kind of fall experience - one that skips the scares in favor of creativity and wonder. Your journey follows a half-mile path through nine immersive pumpkin lands, from the fiery Forbidden City to the electric underwater world of Neon Reef, with larger-than-life installations built from over 10,000 hand-carved and custom-designed pumpkins. The experience continues in Pumpkin Village, the heart of the festival - festive food, our live fire show, and games for the whole family. It's a fun night out for everyone, and your new Halloween tradition. Sept 17 – Oct 1: time slots 7:00–8:30pm weekdays, 7:00–9:00pm weekends. Oct 2 – 31: 6:00–9:00pm weekdays, 6:00–9:30pm weekends.
What to expect
You walk a glowing trail through nine themed lands at your own pace. They range from the Forbidden City, with its 40-foot dragon, to Neon Reef, where black-light coral and glowing pumpkin fish fill the woods. Most people take about an hour. Pumpkin Village follows, with food and drinks, games, vendors, live pumpkin carving and fire shows. Spider Alley is spooky, but there are no forced jump scares or gore.
Why go
This is Halloween for a mixed-age group that wants something to look at rather than something to flinch from. The setting helps. Pioneer Farms is a 19th-century living history museum in North Austin, and the trail runs through its wooded grounds after dark. Expect a farm underfoot, with dirt, gravel and some dust, so wear shoes that can take it. Costumes are welcome, and the lands make good photo backdrops.
