What to expect
A teen volunteer greets you, helps you get settled and explains what's going on. Each week's activities are voted on by the volunteers. Crafts, games and watch parties often run side by side, and you can start something new if nothing appeals. Supplies and free snacks are provided, and staff at the desk can answer questions.
Why go
The volunteers are practicing event planning, leadership and hosting, so the program is built by teens for teens. The setting helps too. Teen Central is on the third floor of the Central Library and has gaming computers, instruments and art supplies. The library sits near Shoal Creek and the downtown trails. It's an easy, low-pressure way to meet people your age in Austin.
