"The Ferry of Unfulfilment" is hosted by the J.C. Elkins O. Henry Literary Discussion Group, a monthly reading group focused on the short stories of William Sydney Porter (O. Henry) and named after docent emeritus J.C. Elkins. Henry Blayden, a successful gold prospector, arrives in New York City from Alaska. He spots, and falls quickly for Claribel Colby, an exhausted saleswoman working at the massive Sieber-Mason department store. He follows her as she makes her way to the ferry boat to commute home to New Jersey. He engages with her and confesses his feelings for her, with unexpected results. Newcomers welcome! This event may be held next door at the Susana Dickinson Museum, if necessary.
