It follows ten-year-old Eve Batiste through a humid Louisiana summer, as her family's secrets come out and her Aunt Mozelle offers a view rooted in spirituality and folklore.

What to expect

The two films run back to back as one evening, with free snacks and drinks. The museum has a 134-seat theatre. That's My Face is a community series that screens features, documentaries, shorts and animation exploring Black experiences and the social, political and cultural themes around them. Why go

The Carver is the first African-American neighborhood museum in Texas. It sits in a building that began as an Austin library, and it anchors East Austin's Black Cultural District. Seeing two films about Black women in horror here, with a community audience, makes for a different night than streaming them at home.
