Frog Live

Frog is a guitar duo from New Rochelle, New York. They started with a self-titled mini-album, then put out the LP Kind of Blah in 2015. A UK tour for that record became the 2018 film Kings of Blah. Later releases include Whatever We Probably Already Had and the freak-folk record Count Bateman.

A standing indie rock show, put on by Resound Presents, one of the companies that runs the ballroom. With only two people on stage, expect a loose, guitar-driven set. The room is mid-sized and fairly intimate, and regulars say you can stand close to the musicians. The bar and patio are there between sets, and food trucks sit in the lot next door.

Frog is a cult-leaning band, and a room this size suits them better than a big stage would. The ballroom sits on a quiet block off the Downtown grid. Its managers, a group of longtime Austin venue operators, aim to keep it feeling like old Austin. It works well for an early evening of guitar music with a drink and a bite nearby.
