Judivan Roots: Night of the Boogieman
Thursday, October 29 at Flamingo Cantina, Austin
About this event
Celebrate Halloween with Judivan Roots at Flamingo Cantina on Thursday, October 29, 2026. The East Sixth Street venue will host an evening of reggae rock with multiple live sets from Judivan Roots and DJ Secret Levels spinning tracks throughout the night. Date: Thursday, October 29, 2026 Doors: 10 p.m. Location: Flamingo Cantina, Austin Admission: $10 cover Age restriction: 21+
Who's playing
Judivan Roots has been part of the San Antonio reggae scene since 2012. The four-piece plays Texas roots rock reggae, with heavy drum and bass and a psychedelic dub streak. Their 2016 EP Threshold of Light has an eight-minute dub track, "Jahsey". They have shared bills with Kabaka Pyramid and Katchafire, and they have played Flamingo Cantina before. DJ Secret Levels fills the gaps.
What to expect
The night is billed as reggae rock "from beyond," so expect Halloween flavor and several live sets rather than one short show. The DJ keeps music going between them. Flamingo Cantina has been Austin's home for reggae, ska, Latin and worldbeat since 1991. The room is intimate, and the jerk chicken is a house staple.
Why go
This is a chance to see a San Antonio reggae band in a long, multi-set format at one of Austin's best-known reggae rooms. The late hours and the Halloween theme make it a looser option than a typical Sixth Street night.
