What to expect
You pick up a passport, then visit the featured businesses in any order. Each stop gets a stamp when you buy something. This year's list runs from Boggy Creek Farm, Casey's New Orleans Snowballs and Texas Chili Parlor to Elysium, Shenanigans Nightclub, The Tavern and Westgate Lanes. Preservation Austin also opens its McFarland-McBee House, a Streamline Moderne landmark, for short tours during the month. Why go
The passport gives you a reason to visit places you have driven past for years, or never tried. Several are still run by the founders' children or grandchildren. Stamps go toward raffle prizes, and the program is a direct way to support the businesses that shaped Austin's culture. It is easy to do at your own pace, with friends or family.
