beyond brushstrokes · a solo exhibition by Magnus

'beyond brushstrokes' brings Danish painter Magnus to Austin for his third solo exhibition at Unchained.Art Contemporary Gallery, set in a historic 1926 Beaux-Arts building in downtown Austin. Magnus is a master storyteller, and his bold, colorful paintings are full of humor and hidden detail, work that rewards a second, closer look. Human figures and animals fill his canvases, each one a small story to unravel, playful on the surface and layered underneath. In this new work, he brings back some of the wilder, more fantastical energy of his earlier paintings. Magnus travels from Copenhagen to be present for the opening reception on Thursday, November 5, from 5PM to 8PM. The gallery is free to visit and open to everyone, whether you follow contemporary art closely or are simply exploring downtown Austin. It is open Thursday through Saturday, with additional hours by appointment. On view through December 2. Gallery hours are: -Thursday: 1 to 7 p.m. -Friday: noon to 7 p.m. -Saturday: noon to 7 p.m. -Sunday: noon to 4 p.m.
