Meet Lisa Loudermilk - Austin Artist of the Month

Unchained.Art Contemporary Gallery continues its Austin Artist of the Month program with Lisa Loudermilk, an Austin-based painter whose work sits at an unlikely intersection: minimalism pushed past its own limits. She calls it Baroque Modernism. On October 4, Loudermilk joins us from 12 to 4PM to introduce her work, talk about her process, and walk visitors through what is on view. Loudermilk's paintings layer metallic films under resin, slicing through wet paint to reveal every previous layer beneath. The result shifts depending on where you stand and how the light hits it. Her process is as precise as it looks: paint is rolled, then cut through with plastic tools. Every layer stays visible in the final work. Her work stays on view through October 31, when the next Austin Artist of the Month takes over the wall.
