Texas Longhorns Womens Basketball vs. Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds Womens Basketball
Thursday, October 29 at Moody Center ATX, Austin
About this event
Texas Longhorns women's basketball hosts the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds at Moody Center in Austin in an exhibition game. It is a tune-up before the regular season, and the teams have not met before. Texas is coached by Vic Schaefer, and the Greyhounds come from the Lone Star Conference.
Who's playing
Texas is the 1986 NCAA champion, with five Final Four trips and 38 NCAA Tournament appearances. Vic Schaefer leads the program and plays in the SEC. Eastern New Mexico competes in the Lone Star Conference and is coached by Blake Huber. This is the first meeting between the two schools.
What to expect
An exhibition is a chance to see how a roster fits together before games count. Moody Center opened in 2022 and holds more than 15,000 for concerts. Women's basketball games usually use a smaller bowl, with screens covering the upper seats. Pregame introductions have included lights and pyrotechnics, and the student section is loud.
Why go
Exhibitions are a low-key way to see a top Texas team in one of the better college arenas around. Coach Schaefer has praised the acoustics and how close fans sit to the court. The arena is on the UT campus, close to downtown Austin, and the Longhorns' home crowds are known for knowing every chant.
