Who's playing
The Texas Technology Access Program is part of UT's Texas Center for Disability Studies. It hosts the conference each year. The lineup includes featured spotlight speakers and concurrent sessions led by assistive technology professionals, everyday users of the technology and manufacturers. Session descriptions and presenter details are posted on the program's conference page.
What to expect
This is a multi-day conference, with talks and breakout sessions alongside a busy exhibit hall of A.T. vendors. The program also lists an A.T. MakerSpace with hands-on activities and accessible video gaming. Breakfast and lunch are tacos. Time is set aside for networking across professions and for meeting agency contacts who work with Texans with disabilities and their support networks.
Why go
The audience is wide. People with disabilities, older adults, family members, caregivers, K-12 and early childhood staff, state and local agency personnel and higher ed staff all attend. That mix makes it a useful place to see new tools and to meet people from other parts of the field. The Commons Learning Center sits on UT's Pickle Research Campus in north Austin, a purpose-built conference center with its own café.
