South Austin's favorite slow-motion spectacle is back for Season 3! Catch the races on the 1st 2nd and 3rd Thursday of every month, where the beers are cold, the crowd's loud, and the turtles take their sweet time. Each race night brings laughs, friendly bets, and plenty of patio chaos - all fueled by good vibes and great drinks. So grab your crew, pick your turtle, and see who crawls their way to glory. What to expect
You choose one of ten racers at the Turtle Bar, then find a spot in the bleachers. The crowd cheers its turtles on, and the louder the room gets, the better the show. If your turtle wins its race, you win a prize from the bar's sponsors. The races run on select nights each month through the season, and the mood is friendly bets and patio chaos.
Why go
The races began at a Little Woodrow's in Midtown Houston and have become a bar tradition, with regulars and first-timers in the same crowd. The Southpark Meadows location is a big, dog-friendly patio bar with a wall of TVs, yard games and a long beer list. It suits a group that wants a night out with something happening besides the drinks.
